READOUT: Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo’s Travel to Italy

ROME – From January 15-17, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo traveled to Rome, Italy to meet with government officials and private sector representatives at the start of Italy’s G7 presidency. The Deputy Secretary reiterated that the United States looks forward to the G7’s efforts to tackle pressing global challenges, including the climate crisis, poverty, food insecurity, economic security, and critical mineral supplies, and to further engaging in dialogue and cooperation on all these issues with developing countries. The Deputy Secretary also shared his support for Italy’s emphasis on engagement with, and investment in, African countries.

While in Rome, Deputy Secretary Adeyemo also discussed President Biden’s new executive order on countering Russian sanctions evasion through third countries, as well as continued cooperation on blocking Russia’s access to the funding and supplies needed to continue its war of choice against Ukraine.
