READOUT: Under Secretary Brian Nelson’s Meeting with Republic of Korea Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Gunn

WASHINGTON –  On June 13, Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson met with Kim Gunn, the Republic of Korea’s (ROK) Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs. The two affirmed the important role of U.S.-ROK cooperation in countering the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s (DPRK) destabilizing regional activities, malicious cyber operations, and proliferation efforts. They also discussed recent actions to counter DPRK illicit revenue generation, including jointly targeting illicit IT worker activities and closely coordinated sanctions on financial facilitators of malicious cyber activity.
