JAKARTA — On August 8 and 9, Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes Elizabeth Rosenberg met with counterparts in Jakarta, Indonesia, including from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK). In these meetings, Assistant Secretary Rosenberg discussed shared economic priorities with counterparts and built on Secretary Yellen’s meetings with Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in July. During these engagements, Assistant Secretary Rosenberg condemned Russia’s unprovoked and unjustifiable war in Ukraine and discussed efforts to mitigate the war’s spillover effects, including through a potential price cap on Russian oil. Assistant Secretary Rosenberg also discussed countering the financing of terrorism and Indonesia’s Just Energy Transition Partnership goals.
Assistant Secretary Rosenberg also met with private sector leaders, including executives from the energy industry, to discuss efforts to mitigate the impact that Putin’s war is having on global energy prices.
