Rose State Hosts Annual Oklahoma Water and Pollution Conference

Midwest City, OK, October 02, 2019 –(PR.com)– Rose State College is pleased to host the 2019 Oklahoma Water and Pollution Control Annual Conference (OWPCC). Sponsored by Automatic Engineering, this three-day event takes place October 1 – 3 in the Rose State College Professional Training Center. The OWPCC brings water control specialists together from across Oklahoma to discuss wastewater, drinking water, environmental issues, and more. A water-tasting competition highlights the two-and-a-half-day event, which will include a keynote from Harry Birdwell, former Secretary of the Commissioners of the Land Office.

Other panelists include Scott Thompson, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Dr. Carrie Evenson, Storm Water Program Manager for the City of Norman, Lori Johnson, Assistant Chief of the Oklahoma Water Resources Board’s Financial Division, Scott Martin, President and CEO of the Norman Chamber of Commerce, Susan Paddock, Executive Director for the Oka’ Institute and many more.

The OWPCC consistently brings together a variety of exciting topics, with this year being no different. 2019 OWPCC discussion topics include Operator Ethics, Creating Practical Water Solutions, Using Drones for Drinking Water Survey and Inspection, and even a session on Medical Marijuana and the impact of Grow Facilities.

Registrants to the OWPCC also submitted drinking water samples from their communities to enter the annual water tasting competition. This competitive event gives city bragging rights to the best tasting water in Oklahoma and will be held during lunch on Wednesday, October 2, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Judging this year’s competition will be News9 news anchor Lacie Lowry, Susan Paddock, Executive Director for the Oka’ Institute, and Rose State College Professor and Geosciences Coordinator, Steve Carano. The winner of the water tasting competition will advance to the American Water Works Association (AWWA) competition.
