ALEXANDRIA, Va. (March 20, 2017) – Bob Foster has been selected as Director of the National Credit Union Administration’s Office of Public and Congressional Affairs, the agency announced today.
Foster, who served as NCUA’s Deputy Director of Public and Congressional Affairs from 2008 until 2011, assumed his duties Friday.
“Bob’s extensive experience in financial legislation and regulation, combined with his previous service here at NCUA, make him particularly well-suited for this role,” Acting NCUA Board Chairman J. Mark McWatters said. “The Office of Public and Congressional Affairs is at the hub of the agency’s communications efforts, and I look forward to Bob’s counsel on how NCUA can be even more effective in this area.”
Prior to his selection, Foster served as Legislative Director to Sen. Roger F. Wicker (R-Miss.). He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Legislative Affairs, at the U.S. Treasury Department; as Staff Director of the House Committee on Financial Services; and as Legislative Director and Senior Policy Advisor to the late Congressman Michael G. Oxley (R-Ohio).
Foster holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He succeeds former Director, Todd Harper.
Both Chairman McWatters and Board Member Metsger expressed their appreciation for Harper’s service to the agency, as well as for his leadership regarding the charitable efforts of NCUA personnel. The agency’s Food Drive and Combined Federal Campaign Auctions reached record levels during Harper’s tenure.
