FTC Will Host Second and Third ‘Debt Collection Dialogues’ with Collection Industry in Dallas and Atlanta

Following the Federal Trade Commission’s first Debt Collection Dialogue, co-hosted in June with the New York Attorney General’s Office in Buffalo, the FTC will host two additional dialogues this fall in Dallas and Atlanta. The Buffalo event drew nearly 200 participants, most of them collection industry members.

Representatives from the FTC and other federal and state law enforcement agencies, and debt collection industry leaders and professionals, will discuss enforcement actions, consumer complaints, compliance issues, and industry best practices. Agency staff will also answer questions, including how regulatory enforcement actions are investigated and pursued.

The Dallas event will start at 1:30 p.m. on September 29 in the Center for Community Cooperation, 2900 Live Oak Street. More information, including how to pre-register, is posted on the FTC website. Pre-registration is not necessary to attend but is encouraged for event planning.

The Atlanta event, co-hosted with the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, will begin at 1:30 p.m. on November 18 at the Latin American Association, 2750 Buford Highway. More information is available on the FTC website.

Both events will be free and open to the public.

The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to help spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint in English or Spanish, visit the FTC’s online Complaint Assistant or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357). The FTC enters complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to more than 2,000 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. The FTC’s website provides free information on a variety of consumer topics. Like the FTC on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to press releases for the latest FTC news and resources.
