FTC Seeks Comment on Proposed Changes to its FOIA Rules

The Federal Trade Commission is seeking public comment on proposed amendments to its fee schedule for Freedom of Information Act requests.

The proposed changes are intended to update the agency’s fee schedule and implement provisions of the FOIA Improvement Act of 2016. In addition, the Commission is publishing final regulations making other administrative rule changes that incorporate the 2016 FOIA Amendments that do not require public comment.

The Commission vote approving the two Federal Register Notices was 3-0. They will be published in the Federal Register soon. Instructions for filing comments appear in the Federal Register Notice. Comments must be received within 30 days of publication of the Notice. All comments received will be posted on the FTC’s website. (FTC File No. P072104; the staff contact is Richard Gold, Office of the General Counsel, 202-326-3355.)
